Ryan graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle in 1991. He then spent many years learning how to make a living as a freelance artist. Ryan worked as an artist/animator at Hash Inc. (a 3D software compnay), before moving on to a web design job with a marketing firm (@Once) in 2001. About six months later the dotcom bubble burst, but Ryan held on for 7 years, writing html code, while doing his best to keep morale high amongst his workmates with his wise-cracking and general tomfoolery. In 2007 Ryan quit to work freelance full time, and hasn't looked back. Ryan finished work on his first book "The Searcher" and self pulbuished, look for this title in the near future in the ibook marketplace. This effort landed him his next big job illustrating "The Little Leaf" by Jairo Penaranda. Next Ryan set his sights on a sequel to "The Searcher", "The Daydreamer" where Chip and his classmates go on a field trip, and Chip's imagination runs wild. Ryan and his wife Angela live in Yacolt, Washington with their goofy dog Lucy.
